volcan pacaya

yesterday i climbed volcan pacaya. its was a easy hike at first. then we got to a split in the path, the fast (hard) way, or the slow (easy) way. i went the hard way. it was basically like climbing a mountain of sand. one step up, and you slide half a step back. it was insane. then you get past that and its ok. we looked down the crater, with steam pouring out. the steam burns your nose. anyways the whole thing is volcanic rock, and sand. aparently it erupted in august 2000. the whole land scape is scorched earth. it looked like something out of the lord of the rings movie where all the demons live. anyhow, gotta run. by the way, it feels like 80f today!

i am so jealous that you got to look into a volcano. that crater at the top is called the caldera.
